note:
A very interesting show this one. It starts off with the very first live version op 'The Holy Hour', still very premature with improvised lyrics and sing melody. The music is already there, besides some solo's which I've never heard before. It could be that they did 1 or 2 times before, but the 10 dates before this one has 'setlist unknown' on cure-concerts.de, so it can't be verified. The known setlists before this show don't have 'The Holy Hour', so this is at least the first recording of a live version of this song. After that follows the usual 80's setlist which is always great. They play not as agressive as other shows in this era. The gems in this show are 'The Holy Hour', 'Another day'(which they didn't play every show in those days), 'Primary' (labeled 'Cold Colours', this version is the slowest version I've ever heard) 'Forever' is played as the first song of the encore. A very strange version this one.
It sounds like Robert or Simon is playing the basspedal at the start (they used that a lot in the 'Pornography' era). The rest of the song is already growing more to the later live version. Robert is already playing the riff from 'Boys don't cry' in the last 10 seconds of the end of 'Forever' and continues with the song right after the others has stopped.
The quality is very good for an audience recording. The intro of 'The holy hour' has a bit of tape degeneration, but after 30 secs it is ok and stays good the rest of the show. there's also small cut 45 secs before the end of 'The Holy Hour'. Annoying audience screaming weird during 'Another day' and in the intro of 'A Forest'.
In this quality and with the historical importance of this show (The Holy Hour) a must download for Cure fans!
